FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Is it conceived as a course?
It all depends on your home university. Some universities treat SimuVaction as an 'independent course study' (with academic credits), others as an extracurricular activity (with a certificate of attendance).
What are the requirements to obtain the certificate of attendance?
Prepare and attend all conferences (Stage 1) and submit the related assignments; accept the role assigned to you and prepare with your teammate; commit to attending the full in-person session; participate in the reflection conference after the in-person week.
What assignments should I expect?
Multiple assignments are spread throughout the process to help you prepare for the simulation and get the most of it. For further questions, please contact the responsible faculty/professor at your home university.
What are the expectations?
The main expectation is your commitment. Once enrolled, getting the certificate or credits depends entirely on your engagement. Your teammate, fellow stakeholders, partner businesses, academic institutions, diplomatic offices, community organisations and NGOs will all rely on you — don't spoil your chance.
What does the mentoring entail?
Mentoring gives students the opportunity to meet professionals and experts in the field, receiving real-life coaching and support on the issues they will treat and the position they should hold based on the entity they represent (journalist, stakeholder, delegate…).
Are there awards?
Yes. Many different prizes are awarded. Students are selected by the D-Day attendees through a vote at the end of the simulation.
What if I have zero experience in negotiation?
The project is open to anyone, regardless of prior negotiation skills. Throughout the program, you will practice and learn through team-building exercises that enhance your creativity and push you a little bit out of your comfort zone.
How much does it cost?
There are no tuition fees. Participating students cover their plane tickets, food and public transportation, with help from their universities and sponsorships.
Is it open to all students?
The program is open to all fields of study, on nomination by a faculty member or professor from your home university. Primarily designed for graduate students; final-year undergraduates may also be considered. All activities and communications are in English.
Which universities are academic partners?
All universities are welcome, provided they designate a faculty member or professor to actively support their students throughout the program.
How does enrollment work?
Enrollment is open to students currently registered at participating home universities. Admission is managed at the discretion of designated faculty or program coordinators at each institution. If you are not currently enrolled at a recognised university, you are not eligible to apply.
When and how will I receive my certificate?
The certificate of attendance is delivered after completion of the program.
